Agreement on government grant signed

Monday, April 12, saw the signing of an agreement between Fraport Slovenija and the infrastructure ministry on a government grant to refund the damage suffered by the company between March and June 2020 as a result of the epidemic. Jernej Vrtovec, the Minister of Infrastructure, also visited the airport, where he was given a look at progress on the construction of the new passenger terminal. The terminal is expected to see its first passengers in July.

Changed border crossing conditions

To contain the Covid-19 epidemic, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia tightened the conditions for entry into our country. The new measures will be in force from 29 March to and including 11 April. During this time airport is open for passenger and cargo traffic, general aviation is limited by Governmental Decree.

Ljubljana Airport launches summer timetable with Airport Health Accreditation

Fraport Slovenija has passed an assessment of its measures to protect against novel coronavirus at Ljubljana Airport. We thus earned our Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) from the Airport Council International, joining the family of airports who ensure the safest health conditions for passengers and staff. This is part of our preparations for a major revival of traffic when the epidemic eases. The summer timetable is currently expected to serve 16 different destinations, while charter traffic is forecast to be busier than last year.

Summer flights to 16 scheduled destinations with 15 different airlines

Next weekend sees the summer timetable enter into force. Owing to the epidemic, the onset of the summer season will still feature much-reduced services. Currently there are five scheduled airlines operating from Ljubljana Airport: Lufthansa serving Frankfurt, Air France serving Paris, Turkish Airlines serving Istanbul, Aeroflot serving Moscow and Air Serbia serving Belgrade.

Air France back with flights to Paris

From March 6 onwards Ljubljana Airport is connected to Paris again. Carrier Air France has re-established flights to the French capital. At first, flights will be available once weekly, whereas for the Summer Season the carrier has announced to gradually increase the frequency to five times weekly, if the circumstances are favourable.

Parking system upgrade

On Tuesday, February 9, the modernization of the parking system in the parking garage and the open-air parking will start, which will also enable payment of the parking fee via payment cards.

Aeroflot resumes flights from Ljubljana to Moscow

Following a break of almost a year as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, Russian carrier Aeroflot returns to Ljubljana Airport. It will initially operate one flight a week to Moscow but expects to add more flights in the summer timetable if conditions allow.

New cold store for pharmaceuticals

A new cold store designed for storing pharmaceutical shipments that need to be kept at temperatures of 2° to 8°C came online at the Fraport Slovenija cargo warehouse before the holidays. At 150 cubic metres, the cold store will double the capacity to store cold-chain cargo, which accounts for a few percent of the total cargo at the warehouse. The new facility will also improve reliability in the storage of pharmaceutical products.

Ljubljana Airport open for all traffic

To improve the epidemiological situation in the country the Government of the Republic of Slovenia has decided on November 12 to temporarily suspend all public transport, except air transport. Ljubljana Airport remains open for passenger and cargo traffic.

10 scheduled flight connections from Ljubljana Airport in the Winter Season

Passenger air traffic in Europe has been recording a drastic decline for the eight-consecutive month. Due to development of the covid-19 pandemic, the announced offer of flights from Ljubljana Airport and their scope are still limited in the Winter Schedule. Nine regular airlines will be offering ten flight connections to nine European countries from Ljubljana Airport. In the period with the highest frequency around 60 flights per week are expected.

Temporary redirection of road traffic

From Monday, October 5, on the access to the passenger terminal and other facilities at Ljubljana Airport is temporarily changed. Traffic regulation is part of the construction of the new passenger terminal, which is in full swing.

Progress of construction works for the new terminal

Fraport Slovenija started with the construction of the new terminal in the middle of July 2019. One year later a vast construction shows the future image of Ljubljana Airport. The new complex will be ready for use by Summer 2021.

LOT Polish Airlines and easyJet also return to Ljubljana Airport

Nine airlines have already returned to Ljubljana Airport after the end of the covid-19 pandemic. End of July easyJet has renewed its flights to Berlin and London Gatwick, being the third low-cost airline that has reestablished flights from Slovenia. The most recent to bring back flights is LOT Polish Airlines, which has returned its connection to Warsaw.

Air France re-connects Slovenia with Paris

The revival of traffic at Ljubljana Airport continues. Air France is the sixth scheduled carrier to return to our airport. Slovenian and the French capital will initially be connected twice a week; flight frequencies will gradually increase.

Hello, Air Serbia

Today, after months of calm, we finally welcomed the first regular passenger flight. Air Serbia is the first airline to re-establish scheduled flights after the epidemic. They will initially fly between Belgrade and Ljubljana Airport twice a week and then adjust the frequency to actual demand.

Preventive measures at the airport

The airport is ready to welcome passengers safely, and ensure a safe workplace for employees. With the resumption of air traffic, the airport has adopted new preventive measures for passengers and employee guidelines in order to reduce the possibility of infection.
