»The establishment of new connections shows recognition of increasing potential of Slovene tourist market. We are confident that the growing number of tourists traveling on these destinations will result in well occupied routes, which be grounds for possible upgrades of these into all year-round services,« M. Sc. Janez Krašnja, Head of Airline Management in Fraport Slovenija, commented on the announcement of new flights.

Following a winter break British Airways is returning to Ljubljana Airport with flights to London Heathrow. The airline will extend their service for one month (until end of September) and double its frequency compared to last year. Passengers will be able to fly to Heathrow four times weekly (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) with 186-seats Airbus A320.

EasyJet will broaden their offer of flights from Ljubljana Airport to London (currently they offer flights to Stansted and Gatwick) with establishing a connection to Luton, operating four weekly flights there, and by adding one frequency to Gatwick – offering five weekly flights in Summer.

Altogether passengers will be able to choose from 23 weekly flights from Ljubljana Airport to UK’s capital, what places the metropolitan city at the top of destinations with highest flight frequency and seat capacity.

The Lufthansa Group Airlines, which established flights to hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels and Zurich last year, continues with the volume of flights from Winter Season under carriers Lufthansa, SWISS and Brussels Airlines. A welcome change, particularly for business passengers, is the improvement of flight schedule to Frankfurt with a morning flight at 7.00AM.

Finnair is bringing back flights to Helsinki in Summer Schedule. The connection to Finland will be strengthened with two additional frequencies to daily flights.

The Russian carrier Aeroflot will double its flights from Ljubljana Airport – connecting Slovenia's and Russia's capitals twice daily, operating flights to Moscow with Airbus A320 and A321.

Turkish Airlines will be flying to Istanbul twice daily. In peak season their flights will be operated with Airbus A321 and connection capacity strengthened for more than 20 percent.

Montenegro Airlines will offer daily flights to Podgorica – two additional frequencies compared to last year. LOT Polish Airlines will be flying to Warsaw10 times weekly, adding two weekly flights compared to last year's Summer Season. Air France, which has doubled its operations in the Winter Timetable, will be offering two daily flights to Paris. Air Serbia will operate 19 weekly flights to Serbia, two to Niš and 17 to Belgrade.

Besides the aforementioned connections to London, in the Summer Timetable passengers will be able to fly with low-cost carriers to next destinations: with easyJet to Berlin (three times weekly), Wizz Air to Brussels (three times weekly) and Transavia to Amsterdam (four times weekly).

»Total volume of flights by foreign carriers is up 34 percent compared to last year, which is a clear indication of Ljubljana Airport's competitiveness and the growing attractiveness of Slovenia as a destination on foreign markets. Our efforts are aimed at expanding the flight network from Ljubljana Airport and optimizing the time schedule of existing connections,« adds Krašnja.
