Capital of new Europe
Start your city tour at the Grand Place square, the picturesque heart of Brussels. Feast your eyes on one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, surrounded by numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Don’t miss the museums scattered in its vicinity, starting with the City Museum that displays the city’s turbulent history and finishing with beer and chocolate museums. Brussels is a real destination for museum lovers, housing over 80 museums alongside its various theatres and an opera house. Don’t miss the René Magritte Museum, Musical Instruments Museum, the Brussels Tram Museum and the Comics Art Museum - the famous Tintin and his dog Snowy, Lucky Luke and many other cartoon characters were created right here in Brussels.
A unique attraction and symbol of the city is the surprisingly small bronze statue of a boy urinating into a fountain called Manneken Pis. The 400-year-old sculpture has its own collection of colourful costumes on display in the city museum. In addition to the Royal Palace, the European Quarter with the European Parliament is certainly worth a visit. Find a break from the hustle and bustle of city life in one of the many beautifully landscaped parks that Brussels residents are especially proud of. If you are holidaying with your family, spend a day in Mini-Europe. The amusement park offers exactly what its name suggests - miniature replicas of world-famous European landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Tower of Pisa and, of course, the Grand Place. Don't forget to stop by the nearby Atomium, an enormously magnified iron crystal, which was constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair.
Experience Brussels, the city of countless museums, landscaped parks, sin-worthy chocolate and excellent beer.
If you are a chocolate or beer lover, Brussels will not disappoint you. Its inhabitants know how to enjoy good food and drink. Join them and order fresh fish, baked potatoes with mayonnaise, traditional Belgian waffles or sin-worthy chocolate. Add even more to your meal by sampling any of the excellent Belgian beers in one of the Belgian capital’s traditional pubs.
