A widget to easier and faster access information about travel limitations

The tourism industry has been living in the grip of travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic for more than two years now. Due to the verification of entry conditions in the country of destination planning their journey poses an additional challenge for passengers. To solve this problem, Fraport Slovenija and SafeScore (an Irish company) are pleased to announce an exciting partnership launched in January 2022. Passengers departing or arriving at Ljubljana Airport will have live access to all the latest travel documentation requirements on www.lju-airport.si, for free, even before they get there.

New terminal and recovery in traffic features of 2021

2021 for Ljubljana Airport was marked by a recovery in demand for flights. It ended with 430,943 passengers, up 47.6% on 2020. The main event and major acquisition in the past year was the opening of the new passenger terminal, investment of € 23 million.

Directly to 14 destinations from Ljubljana Airport in the Winter Season

The Winter Timetable will come into effect in air traffic on October 31. Flights to 14 destinations in 12 countries, served by 13 regular airlines will be available from Ljubljana Airport. Despite still sharp travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the offer of flights is increasing, passengers are braver in deciding to travel and are starting their journeys well informed and prepared. The most recent addition to our flight network is the connection of flydubai to Dubai.

Ljubljana Airport is for the first time connected with a direct air link to the United Arab Emirates. The low-cost airline flydubai has established flights to Dubai, offering three flights per week to the busy hub, through which passengers can travel onwards to all parts of the world.

RVT condition mandatory in all airport buildings

In accordance with the Government’s Ordinance on the method of meeting the condition of Recovered - Vaccinated – Tested (RVT rule) to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus infections, RVT rule is mandatory for all passengers, visitors and employees entering the buildings at the airport from September 15.

British Airways again with flights from Ljubljana Airport to London

British carrier British Airways has reconnected Ljubljana Airport with London's biggest airport Heathrow. It will fly to the UK's capital twice weekly at first and increase the frequency at the end of August.

Completed Digital passenger locator form needed to enter Slovenia

From August 16th 2021 on all passengers entering Slovenia are required to complete a digital Passenger Locator Form, prior to entering the country.

Changed traffic order in front of the terminals

Due to an extraordinary event the traffic order in front of the terminal A and B will be changed today between 16:00 and 18:00 PM. It will be indicated with appropriate traffic signs.

Iberia from Ljubljana Airport to Madrid

The network of flights from Ljubljana Airport is expanded with a new destination. On August 2, the Spanish carrier Iberia established flights to Madrid. Flights to the vibrant capital of Spain will be available throughout August.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has issued a Decree on determining the conditions for entry into the Republic of Slovenia to contain and control the COVID-19 disease which will come into force on 15 July 2021.

Ljubljana Airport has partnered with CarbonClick to offer carbon offsetting for all travellers

Ljubljana Airport, which is managed by Fraport Slovenija, has launched their in-airport voluntary carbon offsetting programme for all travellers. Fraport Slovenija has partnered with CarbonClick to become one of a group of first-mover airports around the world to offer this solution to their customers. Carbon offsetting is available for all travellers, regardless of what airline they use.

New terminal at Ljubljana Airport opens its doors to passengers

The new terminal for passengers at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport opened its doors today. The first passengers entered it in the early hours of the morning. Thanks to the modern infrastructure spread over an area of 10,000 m2, Fraport Slovenija will offer users higher quality, a greater variety of services and a better working environment to rank Ljubljana Airport amongst Europe’s modern airports.

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is getting a modern passenger terminal. The new infrastructural acquisition has been launched with an opening ceremony featuring the Slovenian Prime Minister as the keynote speaker. The new terminal will open for passengers on 1 July.

From Ljubljana airport directly to Dubai in the autumn

The low-cost airline flydubai from the United Arab Emirates will establish a direct air connection with the Slovenian capital and Dubai on 24 September. It will be possible to fly from Ljubljana to Dubai three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 3:15 pm. Tickets are already available for purchase.

Agreement on government grant signed

Monday, April 12, saw the signing of an agreement between Fraport Slovenija and the infrastructure ministry on a government grant to refund the damage suffered by the company between March and June 2020 as a result of the epidemic. Jernej Vrtovec, the Minister of Infrastructure, also visited the airport, where he was given a look at progress on the construction of the new passenger terminal. The terminal is expected to see its first passengers in July.

Changed border crossing conditions

To contain the Covid-19 epidemic, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia tightened the conditions for entry into our country. The new measures will be in force from 29 March to and including 11 April. During this time airport is open for passenger and cargo traffic, general aviation is limited by Governmental Decree.

Ljubljana Airport launches summer timetable with Airport Health Accreditation

Fraport Slovenija has passed an assessment of its measures to protect against novel coronavirus at Ljubljana Airport. We thus earned our Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) from the Airport Council International, joining the family of airports who ensure the safest health conditions for passengers and staff. This is part of our preparations for a major revival of traffic when the epidemic eases. The summer timetable is currently expected to serve 16 different destinations, while charter traffic is forecast to be busier than last year.

Summer flights to 16 scheduled destinations with 15 different airlines

Next weekend sees the summer timetable enter into force. Owing to the epidemic, the onset of the summer season will still feature much-reduced services. Currently there are five scheduled airlines operating from Ljubljana Airport: Lufthansa serving Frankfurt, Air France serving Paris, Turkish Airlines serving Istanbul, Aeroflot serving Moscow and Air Serbia serving Belgrade.
