Soon a bigger flight offer to Dubai and Istanbul, increased frequencies to most destinations in summer season

Airlines are strengthening their connections from Ljubljana Airport. In the coming week flydubai will be boosting its service to Dubai by offering daily flights on the route. Still in the winter season, Turkish Airlines will also be upgrading its connection to Istanbul. The summer season 2023 looks promising with significant upgrades in frequencies and a novelty – Aegean Airlines will be establishing scheduled flights to Athens.

12 carriers to 14 destinations from Ljubljana Airport in the winter timetable

On Sunday, October 30, the winter timetable will come into effect in air traffic. Direct connections of 12 regular airlines will be available to 14 destinations from Ljubljana Airport until the end of March 2023. During the autumn school holidays charter flights to popular destinations in Egypt, Turkey, Spain and Malta will be operated. Almost 750,000 passengers have been handled until end of September, 174 % more than in the same period last year.

Six airlines to increase flight frequencies from Ljubljana Airport in the Winter Schedule

With the Winter Flight Schedule approaching, the carriers are finalizing their timetables for their flights from Ljubljana Airport. Current announcements show that compared to the Summer Season more frequent flights are to be expected to six destinations: Amsterdam, Belgrade, Dubai, Istanbul, Podgorica and Zurich. The peak Summer Season way busy at Ljubljana Airport, in August more than 122.000 passengers were handled, which is 68 % more than in August 2021. Fraport Slovenija expects this growth to continue in September, being supported also by strong charter traffic numbers.

Due to a strike of Lufthansa's pilots flights from/to Frankfurt cancelled tomorrow

Due to a one-day strike of Lufthansa's pilots the airline has cancelled almost all of their flights at Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport for September 2, 2022. At the moment, at Ljubljana Airport tomorrow's flights from/to Frankfurt have been cancelled.

Due to a strike of Lufthansa's staff flights to Frankfurt and Munich cancelled tomorrow

Due to a one-day warning strike of Lufthansa's ground staff the airline has cancelled almost all of their flights at Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport for July 27, 2022. Flights from Ljubljana Airport to the mentioned destinations have been cancelled too.

Ljubljana Airport's new terminal full of life on its 1st anniversary

Exactly one year ago today Fraport Slovenija opened the new terminal at Ljubljana Airport. On July 1, 2021 the first passengers set off on their journeys from a modern building, that offers its users higher quality, a greater variety of services and a better working environment. Today, the new terminal is full of life, as passenger traffic is seeing steep growth with easing traveling restrictions and increasing demand for flights. It continues to be developed – on its 1st anniversary an extension of the All Yours Duty Free Food and more shop was officially opened.

Tivat and Tel Aviv join the flight network of Ljubljana Airport

The flight network from Ljubljana Airport is richer for the last two of the announced connections for this Summer Season. On Sunday, Air Montenegro re-established flights to Tivat and yesterday, Israir Airlines has returned flights to Tel Aviv. With the beginning of school holidays next week, charter flights will reach the widest offer during this summer season. In the busiest months of the year passengers will be able to fly from Ljubljana Airport with around 140 flights per week.

Air France twice daily from Ljubljana Airport to Paris

Air France is strengthening its connection from Ljubljana Airport to Paris. The carrier will double the number of frequencies as of May 31. By operating two daily flights to Charles de Gaulle airport they will be exceeding their flight capacity from the pre-pandemic period.

British Airways reconnects Ljubljana Airport and London Heathrow

British Airways has returned to Ljubljana Airport with flights to London Heathrow. The British carrier will offer five weekly flights to one of the world's leading hubs, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. By pushing the start of flights to May, it is substantially extending capacity on the route.

Passenger traffic at Ljubljana Airport with steep growth, record cargo throughput

Traffic at Ljubljana Airport is getting more and more lively. The positive growth trend in the number of handled passengers continues - in the first four months of 2022, seven times more passengers travelled through Ljubljana Airport than in the same period last year. The recovery in traffic is in line with Fraport Slovenija’s forecasts and comparable to the recovery in “pure" international air traffic in Europe.

Transavia France with new flights from Ljubljana Airport to Paris Orly

Ljubljana Airport welcomed a new flight connection yesterday. The low-cost carrier Transavia France, member of the Air France KLM group has introduced flights to Paris Orly. The airline will be flying to the French capital twice per week and enrich the existing offer of flights to Paris, provided by Air France to Charles de Gaulle, with evening flights on Thursdays and Sundays. If circumstances allow Fraport Slovenija expects this new connection to grow into an all year round.

Increased travel demand shows that European aviation is emerging from the grip of the Covid-19 crisis. Compared to last year, Ljubljana Airport is expecting an enlarged offer of flights in the coming summer season. At its peak, the number of weekly frequencies of scheduled airlines will increase significantly comparing to last year. A strong charter season is also expected.

New terminal and recovery in traffic features of 2021

2021 for Ljubljana Airport was marked by a recovery in demand for flights. It ended with 430,943 passengers, up 47.6% on 2020. The main event and major acquisition in the past year was the opening of the new passenger terminal, investment of € 23 million.

Directly to 14 destinations from Ljubljana Airport in the Winter Season

The Winter Timetable will come into effect in air traffic on October 31. Flights to 14 destinations in 12 countries, served by 13 regular airlines will be available from Ljubljana Airport. Despite still sharp travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the offer of flights is increasing, passengers are braver in deciding to travel and are starting their journeys well informed and prepared. The most recent addition to our flight network is the connection of flydubai to Dubai.

Ljubljana Airport is for the first time connected with a direct air link to the United Arab Emirates. The low-cost airline flydubai has established flights to Dubai, offering three flights per week to the busy hub, through which passengers can travel onwards to all parts of the world.
